Best Moisturizing Hair Mask

Being a Texas girl, I love big hair with lots of hair spray and teasing! But, this love for big hair can cause my hair to get dry and become super damaged easily. Lot's of hair masks on the market now days are designed to just coat your hair strands instead of actually penetrating through the hair strand. Because most of the hair mask are full of chemicals instead of proper nutirents our hair doesn't stay soft and smooth for more then a day or two.

So, what is the solution to actually getting a quality moisturizing hair mask that doesn't break the bank...??

Just 3 Ingredients!.png

The best moisturizing hair mask is super simple but leaves your hair full, shiny, and smooth! Just 3 ingredients...

  • 1 Whole (Soft) Avocado
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1/2 Cup of Raw Honey

1. Whole Avocado

Avocado is like a superhero for dry hair because it is full of vitamins A, D, E and B6. Avocado is also high in proteins, amino acids, magnesium, folic acid, copper and iron. The benefits of having vitamins B and E in the avocado start at the cellular level to protect and strengthen hair.

  • -Vitamin E helps repair damage on the scalp that maybe preventing hair growth.
  • -Vitamin B is essential for hair growth.

When our hair becomes dry and damaged it is because it is nutrient depleted, but the avocado helps to repair our hair with the proper nutrients it needs to become moisturized and healthy. Avocado locks moisture into hair cells, nourishes hair cells while strengthening hair roots, shaft and strands.

2. One Large Egg

The egg yolk is rich in the vitamins that can help our hair become more resistant to damage. I know my hair seems to gets a lot of damage from my blow dryer and round brush. I like big hair remember... :)

Vitamins A and E, biotin, and folate are just some of the nutrients that are found in the egg yoke. They have also been linked to hair growth and healthy hair.

Messaging egg yolk into the scalp can infuse the root of your hair with these vitamins. This means that the new hair will grow out stronger and be less prone to breakage and shedding. When your hair doesn’t fall out as much, it becomes thicker and fuller. It can even seem like it’s growing in faster too.

3. 1/2 Cup Raw Honey

The enzymes and nutrients in raw honey give dull hair shine without weighing it down. The humectant properties of honey help regulate and retain moisture in hair, plus honey is said to strengthen hair follicles for healthy growth.

Honey is also considered emollient which means it seals moisture in your hair, keeping it conditioned. This reduces breakage, which is often a cause for slower hair growth. Adding the honey to the hair mask mixture helps to seal in the moisture and vitamins from the avocado also!

Another important property of the raw honey is the antibacterial and antiseptic qualities. This prevents scalp infections and soothes issues like dandruff, eczema, and psoriasis allowing for healthier hair growth. Honey cleans the hair follicles by getting rid of impurities. Clogged hair follicles is often a reason for hair loss.

This is another great option for raw honey...Nature Nate's 100% Raw Organic Honey!

Blending the mixture works best! I have a hard time getting the avocado completely smashed and mixed by hand. Once it is the correct consistency just scoop it out and apply to your hair.

It's important to get the mask really messaged into our scalp, so when applying to your hair apply it in small sections at a time instead of larger pieces. Once the hair is completely covered I like to go back over my roots to make sure the mask is really penetrating my roots well.

Leave for 30 mins - 1 hour...then rinse.

When washing out the mask make sure to wash your hair with shampoo 2 times before adding conditioner. Since this is a moisturizing mask it can be a little difficult to get it all out with just 1 shampooing. Condition only your ends to make sure your hair doesn't feel "oily" when you are styling it because of too much moisture.

You apply this mask every 7-10 days as needed.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

xoxo,

Marlee
